COMPANY HISTORY Glendore Sand was started in 1982 by Mr. Harold Beattie, a lecturer from PE Technikon. He aquired a mining permit for Erf 325 Theesecombe, which was off Glendore Road, in Pari Park. During 1987, Desmond Eales purchased the business known as Glendore Sand from Mr. Beattie, an old acquaintance who was termilly ill. In 2005 a decision was taken to invest in a logistics and tracking system for all the vehicles. This was developed by OptoAfrica, and the system was named "Winbridge for Quarries". A central server was installed at Head Office, and remote workstations were installed at all the quarries. The internet is used to transmit the data between Head Office and the quarries. All quarries are "live" and the Deliveries Co-Ordinator at Head Office is able to see the exact status of all orders pending delivery at any given time. he is also able to see details of all previous deliveries that have been done. Using Winbridge for Quarries, it is possible for all users know the exact time that any load has left any one of the remote quarries. There are also many other reporting capabilities, which have saved countless man hours when invoicing, reconciling sub-contractors deliveries, calculating Royalties payable, etc. All of the companies vehicles are fitted with satellite tracking devices, and this enables us to keep a constant check on their whereabouts, and also ensures maximum production.
